This was one of those mornings where the cloud sat heavy in the valleys, thick enough to swallow everything below the ridgeline, leaving only the peaks visible. Snow-covered rock pushing up through a white sea of mist.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eI shot this as a wide panoramic in black and white because colour would have added nothing. The scene was already reduced to its essentials by the weather. Dark rock, white snow, grey cloud. The light was diffuse and flat across most of the range, but there's a break in the upper right where it pushes through, giving the whole image a sense of depth it wouldn't otherwise have.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe horizontal sweep of the composition is deliberate.
