The Quiraing is a place that rewards patience and a willingness to scramble. This lone tree clings to the rocky escarpment above the Trotternish landslip, its branches twisted by decades of Atlantic wind. Below, the valley opens out toward two small lochs and the green plateau below, with moorland stretching all the way to the coast.

Early morning light rakes across the hillside from the right, picking out every contour in the grass and rock. The sky is broken cloud with good patches of blue, the kind of conditions that can vanish in minutes on Skye. I was fortunate to get this window!

The tree anchors the whole composition, giving scale to the enormous landscape behind it. Browns and greens shift across the valley floor, fading to a pale distant sea loch on the horizon.

★★★★★

Saw this 7 years ago in Killarney in the gallery and should have bought it then. Bought it online this spring, and arrived quickly, with great communication! Has been framed, hung, and is being enjoyed! Even the framer said it was an AMAZING photograph!

This picture is magnificent in that it captures the essence of the Little Skellig Island. Every time I look at it over my sofa, I remember feeling grateful for traveling to Ireland and experiencing the way your photography mesmerized me.

I ordered Peter Cox's stunning photo of Small Skellig which now sits in my main foyer at home. I get as much enjoyment from looking at it every time I come home as I do explaining its origins to guests who remark and ask about it when they arrive!
